The Loss of Meaning

Trees unwind

at the bark.

Rocks remain

and in their remaining

they dissolve.

We have walked

all this time

and tried not

to change a thing.

Tried, keeping our find

from the claws

of loss.

Yet meaning slips

betraying our tight fist

into the chaos of a sandy

shore.

We sealed our lips

that our thoughts remain.

But silence

spoke.
