A new poem.

This is a new poem.

It has arrived like

the lone cloud

upon a blazing summer sky

and it reminds me

of quieter evenings

when cuddles were solitary

houses upon country meadows.

Newness is a heavy rock

upon the heart of the new.

Shard by shard I dismantle it.

Upon this island my newness

is eroding into a shelter, held together

by all that is absent.
